Pilot setup & help
Your guide to NewWorld
Start in your browser. Choose your device below for clear setup, sign-in and help.
Controlled pilot. Windows, Mac and Linux 0.0.6 include the integrated NewWorld workspace. Desktop packages are unsigned; Mac packages are not notarized. Physical Mac installation and launch remain to be confirmed. Check official downloads for the current platform release.
Start here
Use NewWorld in your browser first. Installation is optional, and contributing computing power is always your choice.
Your first sign-in
- Open https://phoenixai.app/newworld/ in Safari, Chrome or Edge.
- Choose Sign in. Use the exact email approved for your pilot access.
- If you use Google, choose Continue with Google and select that account. For email-and-password sign-in, use your own NewWorld password; choose Forgot password if you need to reset it.
- An access grant does not create a password or automatically send an invitation. If no password account exists, use Sign up when offered and verify your email. If it is not offered, contact the pilot owner.
- Ask a short question. Then try a document, an image prompt or research when those controls are available.
Choose your device
- Windows and Mac: the current desktop app opens the NewWorld workspace inside its own window after browser approval. Using AI does not require contribution.
- iPhone, iPad, Android and Linux: the browser workspace is the easiest start. Add it to your home screen or install the web app where supported.
- Phones and tablets do not currently run supported NewWorld compute nodes. Installing the web app does not share your device's computing power.
Before installing
- Download only from the official NewWorld page. The desktop pilot is unsigned; Mac packages are not notarized. These are not yet trusted public store releases.
- Use the current official installer. A real install and sign-in check is still needed on your own computer; package integrity alone does not establish physical Mac acceptance.
Windows
For Windows x64 computers. Start in the browser or install the integrated desktop workspace.
Install and open
- Open the official NewWorld page and choose Download, then Windows x64. Download the EXE, not a third-party copy.
- Double-click the downloaded installer and follow its steps. If Windows shows no warning, continue normally.
- Open PhoenixAI NewWorld from the Start menu. Choose Sign in to connect; sign in and approve the device in your normal browser, then return to the app.
- Complete the setup steps so your device name, privacy and contribution choices are saved. Leave contribution OFF unless you explicitly want to share compute.
- After browser approval, return to the integrated workspace in the app. Use the app menu for This device and settings; your approved sign-in is stored encrypted for relaunch.
If Windows shows a warning
- For an unrecognized-app or Windows protected your PC warning, verify the official source first. If you trust this controlled pilot and Windows offers it, choose More info, then Run anyway for this file only.
- Keep SmartScreen and antivirus on. Do not install trust roots or disable protection. If your organization blocks the app, use the browser workspace or ask its administrator.
- A malware detection is different from an unknown-publisher warning. Stop and report it instead of approving it.
Update or remove
- Save your work and choose Quit desktop before installing an update. Download the current official installer; do not delete your node settings as an update step.
- Use Settings > Apps > Installed apps > PhoenixAI NewWorld > Uninstall. Revoke a retired device in My devices; uninstalling alone should not be treated as revocation.
Mac
For Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 or newer. Check the chip before downloading.
Choose the right package
- Open Apple menu > About This Mac. If it lists an Apple M-series chip, choose Apple Silicon. If it lists an Intel processor, choose Intel Mac. The Intel package requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer.
- Download the matching PKG from the official NewWorld page. An Apple M3 running Sonoma 14.3 uses Apple Silicon.
- Open Finder > Downloads and double-click the PKG. If Safari says it cannot open the file, open it from Finder; Control-click and choose Open With > Installer if needed.
- Follow Installer, then open PhoenixAI NewWorld from Applications. Choose Sign in to connect, approve the device in your normal browser and return to the app. Finish setup with contribution OFF initially.
Unsigned pilot approval
- The current package is not publisher-signed or notarized. For a developer-verification warning, attempt to open the exact file and dismiss the warning.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security. Under Security, choose Open Anyway for that exact download when offered, then confirm Open and authenticate.
- The installed app may require its own per-file approval. If Open Anyway is absent or a managed-device policy blocks it, use NewWorld in Safari and contact the administrator.
- If macOS says damaged or will damage your computer, stop and report the complete message. Do not disable Gatekeeper or run quarantine-removal commands.
Updates and current limits
- Quit the desktop before installing a newer official PKG. Keep existing node settings. To remove it, quit and move the app from Applications to Trash; revoke a retired device separately.
- Version 0.0.6 includes the integrated workspace and corrects an earlier Mac startup defect. Check the current download version before reinstalling. Physical Mac installation and launch remain separate acceptance checks.
Linux
Use the browser or Web App on Linux, or install the integrated desktop on Ubuntu/Debian x64.
Use the workspace
- Open https://phoenixai.app/newworld/ in a current Chrome or Chromium browser and sign in with your approved email.
- If an Install icon appears in the address bar, select it. Otherwise check the browser menu for an Install page as app option. Names differ between browsers.
- Confirm installation and open the PhoenixAI NewWorld icon from your application launcher. If your browser does not offer installation, keep using the website.
- Allow the microphone only when you choose voice input and the browser asks. File pickers should request only the document or image you choose.
Install the Linux desktop
- On Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12+ x64, choose the Linux desktop DEB from Official desktop downloads. Download only from NewWorld. Other distributions can use the Web App.
- Open the DEB in Software Install or your system package installer and choose Install. Launch PhoenixAI NewWorld from the application menu. Sign in in your browser, approve the device, then return to the app. Contribution starts OFF.
- Use GNOME Keyring or KDE Wallet for encrypted sign-in storage. If native installation or secure storage is unavailable, use the Web App. A legacy TAR.GZ is an advanced node client and does not install this desktop GUI.
Update or remove
- The web workspace updates from the official site. Reload it if an update is not yet visible; a fresh normal browser tab is a useful comparison.
- Remove the web app through the browser's app controls. That removes the web shortcut, not a separately installed node agent or its enrollment.
- For the desktop DEB, quit the app before upgrading through your package installer. Remove it using your system software manager. Revoke a retired device separately; keep private settings during an ordinary upgrade.
iPhone
Use Safari on iPhone; no App Store download or unsigned desktop package is required.
Add NewWorld to your home screen
- Open Safari and go to https://phoenixai.app/newworld/.
- Choose Sign in and use your approved pilot email. If using Google, select the matching account; an iCloud email does not automatically mean Sign in with Apple is configured.
- Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On versions that offer Open as Web App, leave it enabled. Confirm Add.
- Open PhoenixAI NewWorld from its home-screen icon. Sign in again if the standalone web app asks; it may have a separate session from your Safari tab.
- Try a short question before adding a document or using other available controls.
Microphone, files and audio
- Tap the microphone only when available and approve Safari's microphone request. Speak, review the text inserted in the main prompt and send it when ready.
- Use the document picker to choose an accessible file. A very large scan may take longer to upload or may need a smaller copy.
- Tap Read aloud when available. Mobile browsers may require this tap before sound can start. Keep the screen awake for a voice test; continuous background recording is not promised.
Privacy and troubleshooting
- This is a web app, not an iPhone compute node. No contribution is enabled by installing it.
- If Add to Home Screen is missing, use Safari directly. If sign-in works in Safari but not the home-screen app, open the app and sign in there using the same approved email.
iPad
The iPad home-screen web app uses the same NewWorld account as your browser workspace.
Set up in Safari
- Open https://phoenixai.app/newworld/ in Safari. Choose Sign in with your approved NewWorld account; your other PhoenixAI module accounts remain separate.
- Tap Share > Add to Home Screen. If Open as Web App is offered, leave it on. Confirm Add.
- Open the phoenix icon on your home screen. Sign in inside the web app if asked, even if the Safari tab is already signed in.
- Use portrait or landscape mode. An external keyboard can be used for longer prompts and coding instructions.
- Start with a short chat question, then attach a PDF and ask for its key facts. Check the answer against the source document.
Voice and media
- When the microphone control is available, tap it and grant permission. Review the transcribed prompt before sending unless you deliberately enabled auto-send.
- Read aloud needs an initial tap to allow sound. Use headphones for private information and keep the app foregrounded during the voice test.
- For image generation, open Image studio, describe the image, generate it and wait for the result. Download or save the image using the available browser controls.
Pilot access and limits
- Pilot entitlement belongs to your verified account, not to an iPad model. Owner/admin rights are separate permissions; this guide does not grant administrator access.
- The iPad web app does not run a supported compute node. Installing it does not enable contribution. A separately enrolled desktop may appear under My devices.
Android
Use Chrome for the easiest home-screen installation. NewWorld does not currently require or publish a native Android APK for this pilot.
Install the web app
- Open Chrome and go to https://phoenixai.app/newworld/. Sign in with your approved email.
- Open Chrome's three-dot menu. Choose Add to Home screen or Install app, depending on the browser version and available option.
- Confirm installation. Open PhoenixAI NewWorld from its home-screen or app-launcher icon.
- If the installed web app asks you to sign in, use the same approved account. Test a short question before trying document or media controls.
- If installation is not offered, use the site in Chrome. Do not download a third-party APK claiming to be the NewWorld pilot.
Voice and files
- Tap the available microphone control and allow the permission prompt. Speak, review the text in the prompt box and send it.
- Choose a document or image with the system file picker. You do not need to grant access to your entire photo library or storage merely to use chat.
- Tap Read aloud when available to start audio. Keep the app in the foreground for reliable pilot voice testing; background conversation is not promised.
Contribution and removal
- Installing the web app does not share computing power. Android devices are not currently supported NewWorld compute nodes.
- Remove the web app using Android's app controls or the launcher's uninstall option. Sign out first on a shared device. Web-app removal does not revoke a separately enrolled desktop.
Try your workspace
Choose Interface language in the header: Automatic, English, Italiano, Français, Deutsch or Nederlands. This changes the workspace; voice language is a separate choice. Controls follow live capability health.
Chat, documents and research
- Ask a question in the main prompt. Review important answers; AI can make mistakes. Open How this answer was prepared to inspect sources and tool activity.
- Attach a PDF or document, wait for processing, then ask for a summary, key facts, risks or an action plan.
- Web research starts enabled when healthy. Open citations to check evidence. Add a source-page URL to research a particular page.
- Start a new private conversation for an unrelated task. Conversation and memory remain account-scoped; uploaded material has retention limits.
Images, voice and code
- Open Image studio and its separate Describe your image box. Choose a shape, generate, then download the returned image.
- Tap Microphone to dictate into your message. Review before sending. Voice language supports Automatic, English, Italian, French, German, Dutch and Spanish; detection does not change your interface preference.
- For hands-free use, choose Start voice conversation and approve microphone access. NewWorld listens, answers aloud, then listens again. Use Pause, Resume, Stop or Interrupt and listen. Keep the page foregrounded; background listening is not promised.
- Read aloud supports continuous playback, pause, resume, stop and cached replay. The coding workspace browses only files you explicitly choose.
Account control
- Use Sign out on a shared device. To reset an email-and-password account, use Forgot password on the sign-in screen. The owner can manage access but cannot read your existing password.
- Do not send passwords, pairing tokens or API keys in pilot feedback. Describe the failing control and include its visible request reference when available.
Connect a computer
An active node and verified useful compute are different things. Joining is voluntary, and using AI does not require contribution.
Connect and check
- Install the matching Windows or Mac pilot app and choose Sign in to connect. Approve the device using your own NewWorld account in the browser.
- Return to the desktop app and finish setup. Give the computer a recognizable name. Leave contribution OFF for the first connection check.
- In NewWorld, open My devices to check your own enrollment and latest heartbeat. ACTIVE requires a current real heartbeat; a stale or disconnected device must not be shown as online.
- Open the Network section. A connected device without shared coordinates appears beside the globe as Location not shared. In My devices, use location detection while on that device, review the approximate coordinates, then choose Share to add a public globe pin.
Contribution is your choice
- Choose LIGHT, BALANCED, HIGH or CUSTOM only if you want to contribute. GPU use is a separate permission; installed hardware alone is not consent.
- Choose a schedule and confirm that settings persist after closing and reopening the app. Use Pause or Stop contribution whenever needed.
- A device needs a compatible runtime and approved job to perform model work. Heartbeats and enabled contribution do not prove a completed workload.
- PROVEN_COMPUTE and contribution credit require verified useful work. Do not assume a subscription discount has been earned merely by leaving the app running.
Disconnect or retire
- Keep the desktop running for heartbeats. Quit desktop stops its local agent; suspended or powered-off computers cannot remain active.
- Revoke a retired device in My devices. Keep private configuration during an ordinary upgrade; do not delete or share it to troubleshoot a display issue.
If something does not work
Use a short, specific report. A truthful failure report is more useful than repeating an installation or changing security settings.
Sign-in and access
- Check the account email in NewWorld. It must match the pilot grant exactly. Choosing a different Google account can produce a signed-in account without pilot entitlement.
- Use Forgot password for password accounts. Google sign-in uses Google's credentials; there is no separate NewWorld password to reveal for that login.
- If you changed email, ask the owner to correct the pilot grant. Changing a grant does not rename an identity account or move someone else's history.
Installer or missing node
- Report your operating system, chip/architecture, installer version and complete visible error. Say whether it happened during download, installation, launch, sign-in or connection.
- If settings are not saved, report which setting and the steps used. Do not erase node configuration or replace it with a test fixture.
- For a missing globe pin, check My devices. Location not shared means no coordinates have been saved, not that you chose to hide your location. Detect the location on that device, then select Share approximate location on globe. You can hide the pin again at any time.
Media or voice
- For images, check sign-in, pilot access, a non-empty prompt and the capability state. Do not repeatedly retry a paid image request without checking the error.
- For voice, check browser microphone permission, the chosen language, output volume and whether the page is foregrounded. Audio playback may need a user tap.
- If a control reports temporarily unavailable, preserve its request reference and report it. Do not send private documents, passwords or pairing credentials unless a separate secure support process requires them.
